Andriy Fert, Kyiv Mohyla Academy

By analyzing guidebooks, archives, church periodicals, materials of the Preservation and 'Knowledge' societies, and conducting interviews, this presentation traces church-preservation discourse and its relation to lived religion between the late-1960s and mid-1980s in Kyiv to answer how the propaganda of atheism shaped the religious revival of the 1980s and its implications for Ukrainian Soviet patriotic upbringing.
